Holi- the one of colours

i'm extremely impressed with Kathmandu this Holi. No lolas shooting at you from alleyways and terraces, no stones in your hands as you walk down the street to get to your destination. it's the first time i walked around the town during this time of the year, without the fear for lolas. in fact, i forgot all about it because it didn't start in the first place. and i even forgot how i've carried stones in the past and hurled them at boys in retaliation for their lolas. of course, the police has been strict this time around, seizing water-balloons and making arrests and all that. but i guess it also means the kids have become more considerate. maybe the young men about town found something else to do, or decided it was about time they stopped harassing women in the pretext of Holi.
i hope those who're enjoying Holi with their loved ones are having fun and have plenty of water at home to wash off the colour later. because the festival is so much fun when you have your loved ones around you.
