makes my hair limp. like it let go of all its hang-ups about being coarse, thick and unmanageable. how well-behaved my hair feels in this country! like the clean, clean streets outside, the annoyingly well managed traffic, the gardens, the noiseless streets. it makes me miss manila- long for its early morning and late night chatter of the tricycle drivers near our dorm. makes me miss the way my hair tuned into wavy tresses in that heat.
tomorrow, kathmandu will blow my hair back to reality- dry, static, in need of moisture, afraid of the kathmandu dust, but full of life- into powercut nights, drying taps and a politics that drives my generation insane.
