They were words you were coining out of little bits of wood. Spread on the diner. STORY. TOIL. TOYOTA. SURNAME. SEPARATE. ACCIDENT. CLIMB. They were just words. You picked them out of your treasure for letters and created meanings- nouns, verbs, adjectives. It made you like the gods. Creating from bits of wood. An entire board of meanings and stories sprawling on the table. I watch you create, shuffle and recreate, in silence.
You took the scrabble game away from me. Where will I find the words to fill my silences and make sense of it?
