you and i were only shadows last night, as the street lamps tried to peek at our faces. i concealed my smiles and tears with the blankness i wear for a mask sometimes. your smile seemed like it wanted to say things we have been trying not to hear. my heart is just a huge knot these days, i know you will never see.
